Thanks for using Setlist! This site was built as a hobby project to help bands organise their setlists and manage their songs. I hope you find it useful and enjoyable.
These terms are written in plain English rather than dense legalese, because nobody enjoys reading that. They exist to set fair expectations for everyone involved.
Last updated: March 2026
Setlist is a personal project, built and maintained in my spare time. It's provided as-is, with no warranties or guarantees of any kind. Specifically:
In short: I'll do my best, and my band and I use this site on a daily basis - but please don't rely on Setlist for anything mission-critical.
When you create an account, you're responsible for:
You can sign up with an email and password, or use Google Sign-In if you prefer.
I want Setlist to be a friendly, useful place for bands. Please don't:
I reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these guidelines.
Any songs, setlists, comments, polls, and other content you create on Setlist belongs to you. By using the service, you grant me a licence to make use of that content as needed to operate Setlist (for example, showing your songs to your bandmates). I don't use the data for any other purpose.
If you delete your account, your personal data is removed. Some contributions (like comments and polls) are retained for band continuity but are anonymised - they'll appear as coming from "Deleted User". See the Privacy Policy for full details.
You can export your data at any point - look in the "Band Tools" section, and you'll see an option to create a full export of all your content.
Setlist includes a "Rehearsal Room" feature that allows bands to upload audio recordings against individual songs to help with learning and practice. This section sets out the rules and expectations around audio uploads.
In plain terms: only upload audio that you have the right to use. Your own rehearsal recordings, original demos, and material you've created are all fine. If you're using someone else's work, make sure you have proper permission (such as a Creative Commons licence or a royalty-free licence that permits this kind of use). When you upload audio, you'll need to tick a checkbox to confirm you have the necessary rights.
More formally:
By uploading audio content to Setlist, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are the sole owner of all rights in the content, or (b) you have obtained all necessary licences, permissions, and authorisations (including but not limited to Creative Commons, royalty-free, or other applicable licences) to upload and use the content in this manner. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any audio you upload does not infringe the intellectual property rights, copyright, or any other rights of any third party. Uploading copyrighted material without proper authorisation constitutes a violation of these terms and may result in immediate removal of the content and/or termination of your account. Setlist and its operator accept no liability whatsoever for content uploaded by users.
The Rehearsal Room is designed to help band members learn and practise their songs, it is not intended as a long-term audio library or file hosting service. There are several elements of the the design of this feature that reflect this:
These measures exist to keep the Rehearsal Room focused on its intended purpose - helping your band learn songs - and to minimise the risk of misuse.
I may modify, update, or discontinue Setlist at any time. If I ever plan to shut the service down entirely, I'll give reasonable notice so you can export your data. I don't see that happening as my band and I use this service regularly and I love working on it, but you never know what the future may hold.
New features may be added and existing features may change as the project evolves. Again, I try hard not to break anything or change your workflows but sometimes that may be needed. You can follow any updates I make in the Changelog (only visible to logged-in users).
OK, here's the one bit of legalese:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Setlist and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or profits, arising from your use of the service.
To re-iterate: This is a free, hobby project. I'm doing this for fun and to help fellow musicians, not as a commercial enterprise.
I may update these terms from time to time. If I make significant changes, I'll notify registered users via the messaging system within Setlist. If you carry on using the service after any changes take effect, I'll take it as your acceptance of the updated terms.
If you have any questions about these terms, drop me an email at [email protected].
